Adrian Coetzee is a Professional Engineering Technologist with more 29 years’ experience in design and project management of water and wastewater engineering services. Adrian is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of iX engineers with the overall operational responsibility of Technology Transformation into the business operations. His main focus is to align iX with Digitalization in Industrial Revolutions and for iX to be an innovative leader in the engineering environment that integrates advanced technologies to deliver intelligent infrastructure.
Highlights in Adrian’s career was leading a large water team responding to the Cape Town Drought. Project delivery included Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (Desalination), Aquifer Abstractions, Re-charge of Aquifers and Well field development and optimization. The Desalination and Groundwater initiatives focused on Short, Medium and Longer-Term challenges that fall within Cape Town’s strategic water plan. Challenges included emergency procurement of production plants and large injection infrastructure in time to respond to the droughts.
Adrian started his career at V3 Consulting Engineers in 1997, and his career experience includes acting as the Engineer in terms of the General Conditions of Contract (GCC) and the Consultant and Project Manager in terms of the New Engineering Contract (NEC3/4) on many projects. Engineering experience includes planning, analysis and design, tender and contract documentation as well as construction supervision of bulk water supply, bulk sewerage and reticulation schemes comprising reservoirs, water mains, sewer gravity mains, water and wastewater treatment works and pump stations.
In 2017 Adrian was appointed as Cape Town Office Manager and in 2019 his appointment was extended to include the position of Regional Business Manager South responsible for the Cape Town office as well as the George, PE and Upington offices, and currently serves on the iX board as Executive Director.
Adrian’s role changed in 2024 to Chief Technology Officer (CTO). As CTO, he leads the technological vision and strategy of the organization, ensuring the development and implementation of innovative solutions that drive business growth. Adrian and his team brings over 40 years of experience in leading cross-functional teams and fostering innovation. A strong advocate for leveraging emerging technologies, Adrian is dedicated to driving digital transformation and aligning technology initiatives with the company's long-term goals.
