As we mark Heritage Month 2024, it’s important to recognize the individuals whose contributions continue to define & preserve SA’s rich engineering heritage. At the SANRAL SAICE Awards 2024, Maanda Ramutumbu, a leader in operations transformation & engineering, shared insights that highlight the pivotal role of civil engineers in shaping the infrastructure that supports our communities.

With over 15 years of experience in asset-intensive industries, Maanda Ramutumbu currently serves as the Associate Director of Operations Transformation at Deloitte Africa & the Executive Head of the IoT Centre of Excellence Verticals at Vodacom. His career has spanned major roles in power generation, where he has been involved in coal & renewable energy capital projects, operations & maintenance, & outage management, making a significant impact on SA’s energy landscape

Throughout the event, Maanda emphasized the responsibility of civil engineers in upholding professionalism, ethics, and quality in every project they undertake:

In his role at Deloitte Africa, Maanda has been pivotal in helping businesses adapt to the rapidly changing energy landscape. His work focuses on operations transformation, guiding organizations through energy transitions & optimizing their strategies for the future.

His strong academic background, with a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cape Town & a Masters in Engineering Management from the University of Pretoria , further underscores his expertise & commitment to driving innovation and excellence in the engineering & operations fields.
